Using non-default fonts
Give Yourself an Edge by Using Different Fonts
l
There are endless choices for fonts. Trying a new one is easy and can breathe new life on your website, publications and more.
One of my favourite places to find new fonts is Google Fonts.
Sometimes you need something a little different but still professional. Simply sort by most popular and find simple but unique styles that won’t offend or overwhelm.
1. Browse and select the font you desire
2. Download the font

3. Open or Save the file onto your computer
4. Extract the Archive
5. Double click the fonts you want to install, sometimes these come in many variations, you might want to choose a few or all to install

6. The font will open up, all that remains is to click “Install”

7. You can now use the font in any of your Windows applications, you will need to restart your program before it can use the new font

The Other Way
Not everyone is keen on Google or handing all their data to them. Or they have never thought about linking their email to Google. If that’s the case they might not have a Google account.
However they can still be using the Google Chrome browser, and if the unfortunate event of a hard drive failure or similar happens you might lose everything tied to your browser.
Many customers hold a list of logins and other details in their browser. These can all be lost in an instance as the only copy is on their computer. Thankfully in most instances we have some warning of failing component and we have a chance to export and import our Google Chrome passwords.
The Steps – Exporting
1) Click the 3 dots
in the toolbar and choose Settings
2) Click Passwords
3) Click the 3 dots
above the list of saved passwords and select Export passwords
4) Click Export passwords – enter the password you use to log in to your computer if asked
5) Save the file to your desktop
The Steps – Importing
1) Open a new Tab in Google Chrome
2) Type the following in the address bar: chrome://flags
3) Search for Password Import
4) Click the dropdown and select Enable

5) Click the Relaunch button

6) Click the 3 dots
for the menu
7) Click on Settings
8) Click Password
9) Next to Saved Passwords there is another 3 dots
menu, which now has the Import option
The Easy Way
Naturally there’s an easier way to do this. If you have a Google Account you can link this to your Chrome browser. This way everything from bookmarks to passwords is saved to your Google account.
To sign in and start syncing your data click your little grey man in the top right corner
then click on Turn on Sync…
Once you’ve signed in you can rest assured that all the websites you’ve signed up for and their password are tied to your Google account.

Switch User… Other User… How do I sign into another Domain?.. Carefully type in the computer name, backslash, username then password, OK great I’m in!
Here’s a little hack
.\
Use that instead of the full computer name and it automatically picks it up as the local computer.
Absolutely genius way to save some time and annoyance finding and typing the computer name!
.\Administrator
Best way to login as a local user on Win 10.

Working from home has taken off especially with the COVID-19. To effectively work from home you need to be able to continue your work functions as normal. Customer queries, business talk, meetings, communications and more, telephones are a core need for any business.
By choosing us to support your telecoms we can provide an easy to use the app for when your staff need telephone access from home or on the go.
It’s a Telephone
A fully-fledged telephone where you need it when you need it. TC-IT have had great success using the apps when we had to work from home per government guidance. Additionally, we can use it to work from home on any ordinary day. Undoubtedly a useful feature is to separate your personal and work numbers, none of us want our clients to reach us on personal numbers at any time of the day… Therefore we phone them from our work numbers and keep our professionalism.
Personally I was amazed at how crystal clear the audio was over the Office UC app than for example Microsoft Teams chat. Amazingly, it’s much easier hearing and speaking to colleagues, customers and clients alike.
Why not contact us today to find out how you can streamline your telephone system?

In this case scenario, the aim is a simple solution to manage Android devices.
Here at TC-IT Services, our aim is to always find the most appropriate and relevant solutions for our customers and clients. Some example requirements is a locked-down tablet with a few apps that are accessible, no browser or access to settings.
The decision was made to go with esper.

It is a straightforward solution that meets our needs.
With their custom launcher, we can really lock down what can be accessed. Subsequently, their launcher will only display our chosen apps. In the setup, we chose the Esper DPC Launcher.
We can also lock down the settings menu and set a pin to it.
Thus we’re left with a locked-down Android device, with a few apps to open and launch.
Additionally, we have enabled a feature that we thought would be very useful for our client, it’s called Geofence.
This feature allows us to create an area where the devices will function. If the devices go outside of this area they are automatically locked.
In conclusion, the picture below shows the device has left the area and is locked, it can only be unlocked by an administrator or by returning to the catchment area.
TC-IT would love to help you find the right solution for your needs. Please

Wow, what a busy and crazy few weeks we have all had and it is terrible the current state of affairs with the Coronavirus pandemic. We do hope all our customers, friends and colleagues are doing their best to stay safe and to keep well.
For us, the last few weeks at TC-IT Services have probably been our busiest to date and it has been pretty stressful at times to be honest.
What we have been doing
- We have been helping the schools we look after by implementing VOIP phone systems, remote access, Teams conferencing and also methods in which they can distribute work remotely to staff and their students.
- We have helped other businesses setup remote working solutions including VPN access, cloud servers, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- We have also been reaching out to clients in the industries worst effected and have been suggesting/offering them cost savings where we can in these difficult times!
I do however believe that one good thing to come of this is that we have embraced technology recently. So many companies who may have not been that technologically advanced have now been pushed into adopting new methods and are seeing the productivity benefits.
Our Team
I, as the business owner, am so proud of my team at TC-IT Services for the effort they have put in over the last few weeks so thought I should give them a shout out on our blog. My staff have been working longer hours and dealing with so many more calls than usual and have been nothing short of excellent.
Lastly, I would also like to welcome our newest recruit Salma who started with us this Monday and who already has impressed us and our customers.
You can meet the team here on our new website;

Keep well everyone and if there is anything that we can help with, in these difficult times, please do get in touch.
